SGAC is looking for a fun team of motivated, self-starters to organise the SGAC European Student Forum 2018!

This workshop needs the dedication of a select group of volunteers. Benefits for all positions include developing invaluable project management, leadership experience and working with an international team. All positions are open to SGAC members residing in Europe.

The SGAC European Student Forum 2018 will be a one-day regional workshop for students in which two working groups will discuss topics of interest for European students of space-related fields. The working groups will be moderated by young professionals coming from the SGAC network and working for space agencies and industry.

The SGAC European Student Forum 2018 will be held in Budapest, Hungary, on April 14, 2018 in conjunction with the 2nd Symposium on Space Educational Activities, organised by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the European Space Agency.


Delegate Team (2 positions)

This role works with the attendees through all of the stages: applications, delegate selection, delegate coordination prior to workshop.

Tasks include:

  • Contacting all delegates, potential and actual
  • Supporting the selection of delegates and liaising with 2nd Symposium of Space Educational Activities Organising Team
  • Acting as single point of contact for delegates on issues/questions

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average.

This role reports to the Event Managers.


Communications Team (2 positions)

This role requires managing the Workshop public relations and advertising internationally and in Italy while working very closely with the SGAC Public Relations and Communication (PR and Comms) Team and Local Organising Team.

Tasks include:

  • Coordinating media relations and advertising before, during, and after the Congress
  • Writing press releases
  • Liaising with the 2nd Symposium of Space Educational Activities Organising Team and other organisations on promotion of the workshop
  • Developing brochures and potential sponsor packs for SGAC European Student Workshop 2018

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average.

This role reports to the Event Managers and the SGAC PR and Communications Lead.


Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 35 years of age.
  • Interest in the space sector
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work
  • Good English skills with a keen eye for details
  • Good teamwork skills and a high degree of self-organization
  • Cross cultural and communication awareness: ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds
