SGAC plans to host its 4th Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop (AP-SGW 2017) this November in Bangalore, India. SGAC’s first regional workshop inaugurated in 2014, AP-SGW now follows a 10-year ‘Roadmap’ is underway after 3 successful AP-SGWs. We are looking for qualified young space enthusiasts to join the organising team for this event.

AP-SGW is a two day event which will bring together students and young professionals from Asia-Pacific to discuss and promote future space collaboration in the region. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with experts in the academia, industry and agency leaders through plenary and panel sessions, and working group discussion.


Role Descriptions


Communication Team (2 positions)

You will support of the Workshop public relations and advertising, working closely with the SGAC Public Relations (PR) and Communication Team and the Event Managers. Your tasks will include:

  • Coordinating media relations and advertising before, during and after the Workshop
  • Writing press releases in social medias
  • Liasing with the Organizing Team and other organizations on promotion
  • Developing brochures and potential sponsor for the workshop

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average


Delegate's Team (2 positions)

Your will support of the Delegate related processes throughout the Workshop including application, selection, communication before and after the Workshop. Your tasks include:

  • Coordinating all contact with delegates, pre- and post-selection
  • Supporting the selection of delegates
  • Point of contact for delegates on issues/questions
  • Creating Delegates' Database

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average


Program Team (2 positions)

You will support the organization of the Workshop's program. Your tasks will include:

  • Develop and prepare the plan and the topics for the workshop
  • Select moderators, speakers and coordinate with them for invitation
  • Coordinating a cloud-based collaboration among team members
  • Writing related reports and documents
  • Developing templates and standards for future workshops

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average


Logistics Team (3-5 positions)

Your will support the organisation of the logistics aspects of the Workshop: Event Venue, Gathering, Social Event Programmes, Closing Dinner, etc. Your tasks will include:

  • Liaising with responsible persons to book a room for the Workshop
  • Organising the gathering for the days of the Workshop
  • Organising the social events (dinners, closing dinner diner, visits, …)
  • Finding hotels and travel information for the guest speakers
  • Elaborating estimated budgets for different organisational phases of the workshop

Estimated time commitment: 3-5 hours a week on average


Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 33.5 years of age
  • Interest in the space sector

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work

  • Good English skills with a keen eye for details

  • Good teamwork skills and a high degree of self-organisation

  • Cross Cultural and Communication Awareness: Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds
