With one of our current Web Coordinators taking a new role, SGAC is looking for a dynamic and well-organised individual to help lead our Web Team. The Web Team performs many important and integral functions within our organisation. The successful candidate will join our current Web Coordinator in leading our growing team in maintaining and developing SGAC’s web capabilities as well as representing the Web Team on the Executive Council. It is an exciting position that offers many rewarding experiences in leading an eager and enthusiastic multinational team to address core challenges facing SGAC’s web infrastructure.

The Space Generation Advisory Council is a global non-governmental, non-profit organisation and network which aims to represent university students and young space professionals across the world to the United Nations, space agencies, industry, and academia.  The global nature of our organisation means that we depend heavily on our web infrastructure. As one of our two Web Coordinator on our Web Team, you will help lead, develop, and maintain this important network behind our organisation.



The SGAC Web Team is currently led by two Web Coordinators and has six Web Editors in the Team. There is currently one Web Coordinator position open. The successful candidate will:

  • Work with the current web team coordinator (Anthony Yuen) on leading, directing, and guiding activities of the Web Team
  • Delegate tasks among Web Team members and follow up on task requests sent to the Web Team.
  • Assist in the development of new capabilities on our website, including being part of our current project to rebuild our website
  • Have a position on the SGAC Executive Committee, prepare brief monthly reports and attend the monthly Executive Committee meetings
  • Help liaise with all the team members across SGAC to support their events, projects or goals through our website and web applications
  • Monitor and respond to emails in a timely manner regarding website issues
  • Communicate with our Server Host on the management of the website server
  • Identify areas of improvement throughout our Web Infrastructure and provide leadership on making these improvements

This is a voluntary role with a term of 2 years, renewable for an additional two years based on performance.

Estimated time commitment: 5 - 7 hours a week as minimum, with up to 10 - 15 hours a week commitment during some parts of the year. Larger work commitments will center around large SGAC events (e.g., conferences, Space Generation Congress, and the annual website update) as well as time devoted to the development of our new website. The ability to respond to issues around-the-clock is highly preferred. You will be able to arrange with your co-coordinator for downtime from the role during exams, vacations or time for other personal needs.


Necessary Qualifications

  • SGAC membership: registration on the SGAC website and below 33.5 years of age
  • Interest in the space sector

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, quick turnaround international environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work

  • Good English skills with a keen eye for details and formatting

  • Around-the-clock internet and email access

  • Flexible time planning and ready to be proactively involved
  • Good teamwork skills and a high degree of self-organisation
  • Cross Cultural and Communication Awareness: Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with people from various international and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in leading teams are highly desired
  • Basic experience with picture editing software (e.g.,Photoshop), web CMS (Content Management Systems) specially Joomla, web applications (e.g. GApps), and other programing exposure is highly preferred. You will receive additional relevant training from our current Web Team.
