SGAC is looking for volunteers to support the organisation of the Fusion Forum.

The Space Generation Fusion Forum (SGFF) is a two-day event that brings together international perspectives of a select group of 50 university students and young professionals from across the world to discuss the important and pressing issues for the space sector.The Forum is an intellectual exchange between the delegates and senior leaders in the space sector.  The Space Generation Fusion Forum will be held on 2 - 3 April 2017 in Colorado Springs, USA.

Deadline for application: November 5th, 2016

 

Communication Team (2 positions)


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating media relations and advertising before, during and after the event

  • Writing press releases for social media

  • Liaising with the SGFF Team, SGAC PR and Communications Team and other organisations on promotion

  • Developing brochures and potential sponsor packs for SGFF

Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior to event.

Requirements:

  • -   SGAC Member (registration on the SGAC website required)

  • -  Ability to write interesting and exciting briefs on SGFF events.

  • -  Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

  • -  Interest in developing social media presence, creating and editing brochures and flyers.

  • -  Experience in photo/videography and video-editing would be an asset.

  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

 

Delegates Team (2 Positions)


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating all contact with delegates

  • Supporting the selection of delegates

  • Point of contact for delegates issues/questions

  • Creating the Delegates Database

Estimated time Commitment:  8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior.

Requirements:

  • SGAC Member

  • Ability to provide world-class customer service to delegates and rapidly solve issues.

  • Ability to objectively assess applications against a defined rubric.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

  • Interest in working with international cultures and diverse backgrounds.

  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

 

Logistics Team (2 Positions)


Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with point of contact for venue related logistics

  • Organising the social events (dinners, visits, …)

  • Finding hotels and travel information for guest speakers

  • Elaborating estimated budgets for different organisational phases of the event

  • Coordinating the financial flows before, during and after the Workshop

Estimated time Commitment:  8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior.

Requirements:

  • SGAC Member

  • Ability to provide world-class customer service to guest speakers.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

  • Interest in developing logistical support, planning events and working with finance and budgets.

  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

 

Program Team (2 Positions)


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare the format and topics of the event

  • Select moderators, speakers and coordinate with the for invitation

  • Coordinating a cloud-based collaboration among all team members

  • Writing related reports and documents

  • Developing templates and standards for future workshops

Estimated time Commitment: 8 hours per day during the event, 2 hours per week prior.

Requirements:

  • SGAC Member

  • Ability to liaise effectively with senior members of the space sector

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

  • Interest in developing relevant discussion topics and selecting speakers.

  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is prefered

 

Operational Support (3 Positions)


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PR, Delegate and Program Teams with multiple tasks.

  • Assigned on an as-needed basis to support the other teams or Manager/Deputy Manager.

  • Be flexible and prepared to work in a multi-disciplinary role.

Estimated time Commitment: 2 hrs/week prior to the event, 8 hrs/day during the event.

Requirements:

  • SGAC Member

  • Preferred prior experience in an SGAC Event

  • Interest in being involved in multiple aspects of planning the event.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

 

Deputy Manager (1 Position)


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the SGFF Manager in oversight of the PR, Delegate, Program and Operational Support Teams.

  • Create reports, schedules and other documents as directed by the SGFF Manager.

  • Review and edit the delegate handbook prior to publication.

  • Note challenges encountered and best practices for future SGFF events.

Estimated time Commitment: 4 hrs/week prior to the event, 10 hrs/day during the event.

Requirements:

  • SGAC Member

  • Project Management or scheduling experience

  • Exceptional leadership potential.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good grammar and writing skills.

  • Prior experience as delegate or team in an SGAC Event is strongly preferred
