The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) has grown tremendously in the past few years, from increased international events to new project groups. To keep up with this trend, SGAC is seeking volunteers to join the SGAC Finance Team in various roles. Role Description


Accounting and Invoices (2 positions)

Responsibilities

  • Review invoices and reimbursement requests for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

  • Prepare and process sponsorship invoices, electronic transfers and payments, in collaboration with Executive and third parties

  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and expense reports

  • Manage relevant financial databases and accounts (e.g., Xero, Salesforce)

  • Assist with completion of all quarterly and annual financial reports

  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with SGAC policy

  • Assist with other projects as needed (e.g., long term endowment planning)

This role reports to the SGAC Treasurer and SGAC Chairs.

Approximate time commitment: 2 hours a week

Budgeting and Financial Monitoring (1 position)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare SGAC forecasted financial statements, including an income statement, cash flow, statement of financial position, and various financial ratios.

  • Provide support and expertise for event budgets (including global, regional and local events)

  • Prepare annual tax filings with IRS and other jurisdictions as needed, in collaboration with external accountants

  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with SGAC policy

  • Assist with other projects as needed (e.g., long term endowment planning)

This role reports to the SGAC Treasurer and SGAC Chairs.

Approximate time commitment: 2 hours a week

 

Role Requirements


  • SGAC Membership

  • Proficiency and dedicated track record in financial management; this may include being the Treasurer of a non-profit or society or experience managing finances for a company

  • Knowledge of common accounting procedures including balance sheets, Profit & Loss (P&L’s), account reconciliation, and financial reporting

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Experience with Xero and Salesforce would be a plus

  • Responsive and quick email turn around time

  • Must be well organized and a self-starter

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable

  • Working fluency in English is required with an ability to communicate complex concepts with clear terminology and professionalism
