SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC December Member of the Month: Andrew Wilson (United Kingdom), SGAC Reports Coordinator

Andrew Wilson (United Kingdom)

Andrew Wilson

Andrew Wilson is currently a PhD candidate in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Whilst working very closely with the European Space Agency and SPACE Canada, his primary research focus is on integrating life cycle sustainability assessment into the concurrent design process to assess the environmental, social and economic impacts of space missions. He graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University (where he is now an assistant lecturer) with a First Class Honours degree in Environmental Management in 2015. Andrew has served as SGAC's Reports Coordinator since February 2016 and is responsible for overseeing the development of different reports within SGAC which are released during the year and presented around the world on behalf of its members.

Andrew was nominated by Marta Lebron (Editing Team Coordinator):

“Andrew has been working a lot to have the SGAC Annual Report on time. He prepared a seminar to solve everyone's doubts and now he is dealing with all the reports from all the countries, regions, events, and Project Groups. He's been super quick and efficient!”

Here's Andrew's reaction:

“I am truly honoured to have been voted as Member of the Month during such an extremely busy time for the Contents Team at SGAC. Coordinating annual report gathering across the entirety of SGAC whilst implementing new processes to improve efficiency and coordination efforts has been both a challenging and rewarding task. In view of this I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all that I have worked with over the last couple of months, but in particular to Editing Team Coordinator Marta Lebron Gaset and her team. Without them this work would not have been possible. Finally, I would like the thank SGAC for all of their support over the years and the personal and professional experiences that they have provided me with. I look forward to what the future may hold during my continued involvement with SGAC!”

From SGAC Chair, Ali Nasseri:

“Andrew joined our team in March 2016 as our first reports coordinator, tasked with bringing order to the SGAC reports. In the past 2 years, he has worked with various SGAC teams, helping them develop guidelines for the reports and overseeing the compilation of those contents. The increased quality and standardization in SGAC reports shows the impact Andrew has had on SGAC activities, and I am happy to see him being recognized for his contributions! Well deserved Andrew!"
