SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC March 2013 Member of the Month: Emile Victor (Australia)

Emile Victor (Australia) is a 22 year old Software Systems and Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. For the past couple of years, he has been part of a team whose main purpose is to work towards the modernity of SGAC's computer infrastructure. This server team is based in Australia, which is why SGAC Members may be receiving emails at strange times of the night! Emile has experience within Boeing as a researcher, where he undertook two software projects in the fields of human computer interaction and aerospace safety. Emile hopes to maintain this position within the industry as a graduate engineer.

Christopher Vasko (Austria/Hungary), SGAC Treasurer, nominated Emile
"I nominated Emile for his tireless dedication in working on the SGAC homepage. Without him, the organisation would not have been able to upgrade its security and restore essential functions to the webpage. Knowing how difficult it can be to work on the server, I admire Emile for having spent his valuable spare time - night over night - to fix issues that the team would not have been capable of solving without professional assistance. Thank you, Emile!"

Here is Emile's reaction
"Thanks a lot to SGAC for selecting me as March Member of the Month. I am one member in a team of people who are working on a project to modernise SGAC's website and server infrastructure. We hope to get it all up and running nicely soon!”

From SGAC Chair, Catherine Doldirina (Georgia)
"The success of SGAC lies in the willingness and readiness of our members to step up and volunteer to take responsibility over critical actions in certain situations. Emile has demonstrated exactly this behaviour - he tremendously helped SGAC out in a very difficult situation that required an immediate and substantial effort to fix. I also nominated Emile for March Member of the Month, and was very happy to know that the entire Executive Council agreed with the importance of this recognition. This is one of the ways to say ‘thank you’ to our wonderful members. Thank you, Emile!"
