SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognized for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals, and we continued this until today.

SGAC is proud to present the SGAC June Member of the Month: Caroline Thro (France), Event Manager for the 2nd E-SGW

Caroline Thro(France)

Caroline Thro

Caroline Thro is currently working for the Procurement Department of the European Space Agency and more precisely for the Launcher and HQ Procurement Division. Previously, she did a four-month Traineeship in the Legal Department of ESA dealing with Intellectual Property issues in the Institutional Law Division. Afterwards she worked for three months in the Legal Department at the European Aviation Safety Agency in Cologne. Caroline has been the Event Manager for the 2nd E-SGW taking place on 24th and 25th of March 2017. She graduated 2014 in Space Law at the University Paris South (Faculté Jean Monnet) in the Master Droit des activités spatiales et des telecommunications. The same year she won in Wroclaw (Poland) the European Round of the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition dealing with harmful interferences in Outer Space and was Semi Finalist of the World Finals of this same Competition in Toronto, taking place in the frame of the IAC. Caroline is a member of the Space Law and Policy Group of the Space Generation Advisory Council and of the International Institute of Space Law.

Caroline was nominated by Laszlo Bacsardi, Regional Events Coordinator:

“Caroline made excellent work as event manager of the Second European Space Generation Workshop. She worked almost one year to organize a successful event in Paris, managed an international and a local organizing team, and helped to open new horizons for SGAC.”

Here's Caroline's reaction:

"It is a great honor for me to have been selected as Member of the Month! I am very much looking forward to going on working with such inspiring students and young professionals around the world and trying at a very low level to give back to SGAC what SGAC has been offering me."

From SGAC Chair, Ali Nasseri:

“It is great to see Caroline being recognized for her contributions to SGAC. Caroline started working with our team in 2016, helping with activities in the SGC 2016 team, and then leading the organisation of the second European Space Generation Workshop at ESA HQ. Through her activities, she has shown great passion for SGAC goals, and helped our organisations activities grow both in Europe and globally. Well deserved Caroline!"
