SGAC membership has been steadily growing throughout the years. Among our membership there are many incredible young space enthusiasts who should be recognised for their hard work and contributions to SGAC. In December 2009, the SGAC Executive Council decided to acknowledge one member per month for his or her outstanding work and contributions to SGAC and its goals.

We are proud to present the May 2010 Member of the Month: Patthara Limsira, NPoC of Thailand.

MOM_MAY_editSMALL_Patthara_Limsira_NPoC_ThailandPatthara Limsira is a 28-year-old lawyer, living in Bankok, Thailand. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, at Chulalongkorn University and has a Certification of Honors, Xiamen Academy of International Law, P.R. China. He works as a lawyer and starting April this year he is an Intern at The Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

Ariane Cornell, Executive Director of SGAC, recommended Patthara Limsira:

“Patthara Limsira, SGAC’s NPoC of Thailand, is very deserving of the distinction of May’s Member of the Month. SGAC thrives thanks to its volunteers and volunteer leaders. Patthara is the epitome of one of these volunteer leaders who keeps SGAC going and growing. Since Patthara joined SGAC as the NPoC of Thailand last year, he has been a model NPoC. He represented SGAC and presented SGAC’s YGNSS project at the APRSAF conference in Thailand. He has submitted excellent material for SGAC’s annual report and new website. Finally, he has been working diligently at growing SGAC’s presence in the Asia Pacific region through developing a relationship between APRSAF and SGAC as well as through looking for other opportunities for SGAC and its members to contribute to local space activities. On top of all this, Patthara is all around a pleasure to work with. I extend to him a sincere congratulations and gratitude for what he has given so far to SGAC.”

And here is our MoM May reaction:

“My first encounter with The Space Generation Advisory Council was almost two years ago while accidently coming across the website of the organisation. At the time I did not know what it was, but I only hoped that it would be something fun. In fact, SGAC proved to go beyond my expectations. I enjoy being part of the organisation and it is truly my honor to have been appointed National Point of Contract (NPoC) for Thailand despite my modest space experience. SGAC has opened the door for the space community from the moment I took this position and therefore I wish to bring my best contribution.
I have always been guided by the kind advice coming from the SGAC people. The lesson I have learned since becoming an SGAC member is that the future of space is in our hands, we just have to act now and everything will be possible. Moreover, one important thing I gained from SGAC is the friendship of SGAC members, especially Yuqian Maryonsail Dong, NPoC of China, whom I wish to thank and congratulate for her contribution to SGAC.
Please allow me to humble say thank you to SGAC for recognizing me as Member of the Month May. I would not have been graded this without the support of everyone. For this I am grateful to you all.”
